1. What kind of business do you run as a photographer?
That's a great question. I am a photographer specializing in Boudoir, Fashion, and editorial portraiture. The studio provides an intimate setting for clients to open up and become the sexiest version of themselves. 2. Why the camera? Is it your passion?? I love the camera but what motivated me to become a photographer isn't that simple. I love the options that photography offers; not just the light, subject matter, backgrounds and location but the opportunity to create images of people that they have never seen before. I strive to create sensual, elegant, and slightly erotic images that show the clients "sexiest self". 3. You are a young business woman, what have been some of the struggles and what have been some winning moments?? Any advice to someone about to start a small business? There are struggles no matter what you decided to pursue as a career. Biggest mistake is not taking myself serious enough; I have a skill-set that I have worked very hard to cultivate and giving everyone a discount is not a winning strategy. My first ever boudoir client said "Kaylin, I really want to send my husband sexy photos for our anniversary and I tried it with my iphone and it was the most horrific experience of my life. I can not send him those photos, can you help me?" I thought about it and realized that all women want intimate images to share with their special someone and yet the thought of getting naked in front of a random photographer is more than uncomfortable. Advice for someone thinking about starting a small business would be to do your research; make sure you are the best you can be, and always be fair and upfront about your services, experience, and pricing. 4. Where would you dream to be in 5 years from now?? 5 years from now I would like to be traveling and shooting boudoir in the most romantic destinations around the world. 5. What are your beauty must haves in Los Angeles? Local beauty must haves: obvious choice being ROCK N' BROWS for my brow maintenance:). I have the pleasure of working with so many local salons and boutiques it's hard to narrow it down. Le Bra Lingerie is my favorite place to pick up something sexy. Key pieces in my makeup kit this season. Benefit liner, NARS Velvet Lip Pencil in Cruela, Kat Von D studded lipstick set, Too Faced eyeshadow pallets, IT cosmetics for concealer and highlighter, Napoleon is a new brand to me that I am also really enjoying. 6. What is your main inspirations for your work/life? I love art. In all of its mediums art offers people an escape; a safe place to meditate in the beauty of what we are looking at or listening to. Eddie Sedwick, Twiggy, Marilyn, Andy Warhol, Helmut Newton, and so many others have given us decades of art to enjoy. 7. If you could see one thing change about humanity what would it be and why? I wish that society as a whole would work harder to work together. 8. How has ROCK N' BROWS changed your life !? My eyebrows have never looked so good! It changes the shape of your entire face. I am a huge fan of the Rock N' Brow! Thanks for Playing @ Kaylin Mae! You rock girl, I love your talent/spirit & camera. Kaylin Mae's Links are below:). I love my job and what I do. I studied Broadcast Journalism at CSUN and all I wanted to do was work in television, but I never wanted to be in front of the camera. Now that I am, it’s just an added bonus because shooting the show with my coworkers is a fun part of our day. 2. What is TOO FAB exactly? What are some Awards shows you have worked on? TooFab.com is the sister site of TMZ. I cover fashion and beauty related stories for TooFab. I attend red carpets and interview celebrities and stylists. Most recently I covered the 2014 Emmys. 3. I know you are Armenian just like me:) Where are you and your family from and did you grow up here? Yes, I’m Armenian. What people find most interesting is that I was born and raised in Yerevan, Armenia. I moved to the states when I was 10 years old, I was there during the Soviet collapse. Being Armenian is a big part of my identity and it’s a great privilege to be a part of that. Even though, I sometimes have to defend my culture on the show by explaining to them that Armenians don’t trade their daughters for a donkey;). 4. What are you truly passionate about? I’m an Aries, so I’m passionate about everything! But most important thing to me is family. Seeing my family happy is the greatest feeling in the world. 5. What’s a goal you would like to achieve in the next 5 years? In 5 years, I’d like to see myself flying across the globe. Problem is, I have a crippling fear of flying! I’d like to see myself conquer that fear and become a jetsetter. I can’t wait to start traveling! 6. What are your beauty and fashion must haves in Los Angeles? I love my city! For beauty I’d have to say sunblock. You can’t have glowing skin if you don’t protect it. A fashion must have in LA is a nice pair of sunglasses—so invest in a pair or two:). 7. What is one thing you would like to see change for humanity? Hate. I wish people would stop hating one another for their differences. We need to start looking at people as individuals rather than grouping them into separate factions based on religion, race, or sexual orientation. 8. And Lastly how has Rock N' Brows changed your life?? It’s changed my face! Sarah has the ability to make your face look better. I know we all think they’re just eyebrows, but once you visit Sarah…she will make you realize what a difference your eyebrows can make on how you look. She also teaches you how to preserve and maintain your brows until your next visit. Where I sit on the show, my eyebrows are in plain view all the time…so it’s very important to me that my eyebrows look flawless at all times. THANKS FOR PLAYING ANNA! What inspires you the most to stay focused and goal oriented?
I get inspired when I meet individuals who work hard to make their dreams a reality and are not afraid to take chances. I have been lucky enough to have these kind of people around me growing up, and have been mentored by a number of inspirational people in both of my careers. 2. Tell me about your recent transition from attorney to real-estate agent? What motivated you to change? Were you scared? I have always had an interest in architecture and design when I was growing up, but I also knew that going to law school would allow me to gain specialized knowledge and be financially independent in my early 20s. I enjoyed litigating for 5 years in two of the top international law firms in the world, but I also knew in my heart I had another passion that I felt compelled to pursue: real estate. Yes I was scared, but I had the emotional support of my family and friends who believe in me. I also knew that I didn't want to work for just any real estate agency; I specifically wanted to work for THE AGENCY, a firm whose agents are innovative, highly successful, passionate and energetic. Its been a perfect fit thus far and I love learning new things and meeting new people daily. 3. What would you like to manifest in your career in the next 10 years? In five years (ten is too far away!), I am hoping to have gained the knowledge I need not only to achieve consistent closings in residential real estate sales, but also the ability to branch out into the development and investment world, which has always been my long term goal. 4. Is there anything you have learned in your recent transition you would like to share to women going through a career change? Any advice? The advice I would have for women is to take a leap of faith if you are not fulfilled in your job. One of my favorite quotes that really inspired me to make this transition and keeps me optimistic through hard times is "Success is not about avoiding failure. Failure is about avoiding failure." This has taught me to identify what truly speaks to me, and take baby steps towards achieving it. 5. As a woman, what are your top 3 rituals you have in your life that make you happy? Only 3 ?! I would say that getting any kind of beauty treatment, weekly dinner/drinks with friends and family and SHOPPING! 6. What is 1 wish you have for humanity? In an effort to avoid sounding like a beauty queen, "world peace" would be high on my list. Everything that is currently happening around the world is really unfortunate and if everyone could just come together and compromise in life and, in turn, business would be so much better. 7. Last but not least: How has Rock N' Brows changed your life? :) I still look at photos of myself before I met Sarah and I am in total disbelief that I spent the majority of my life with crappy eyebrows. Eyebrows really make or break your face, and Sarah does an amazing job in making anyone's eyebrows look perfect just for them. THANKS FOR PLAYING JULIA BRODSKY, you rock as a client! Attached below are Julia's links and you can follow her new pursuit of heart in real estate. http://www.theagencyre.com/agent/julia-brodsky/ http://twitter.com/JBrodskyRE http://www.facebook.com/julia.brodsky.re What inspires you most?
I would say what inspires me most is traveling, art, and people who are doing great things within their line of work whatever that may be! What is your career? I am a fashion stylist and mainly do celebrity dressing etc. I have been working in the business for almost 7 years now. Starting out as an assistant to now being on my own. What do you like/love about Los Angeles? What would you change? What I love about LA is that we really have the best of everything at our fingertips. The best doctors, food, stores, hair people, brow person:) I also love that you can be in the city one minute and then take a drive to the beach OR hike in the mountains. If I could change anything about LA it would be traffic hands down and also maybe I would like to see people be more friendly. What's one wish you would have for HUMANITY? Dream wish for humanity I think would be peace, especially right now. Do you have any guidance/advice for someone who wanted to get into fashion styling? My advice for anyone looking to get into the world of celeb styling would be to just START working. Everyone has an individual story of how they broke into their business. For me I was a Neiman Marcus intern after college and then worked for the personal shopper there where I met all the stylists and later I would assist. Get an internship with a stylist/Fashion PR firm, show up early, stay later, don't ask questions you can figure out the answer to, be assertive but NOT annoying! People in this business are often too busy and wrapped into their own world to really be a mentor, but if you take direction well and work hard eventually they will notice and you will gain more opportunities. Final Question: How has ROCK N' BROWS changed your life?? :) Rock N' Brows changes my life every two weeks! I cannot look people in the eye properly unless my brows look good! People stop me all the time to compliment my brows, I can't imagine my beauty routine without Sarah! -Andrea Livolsi Thank You Andrea for being an avid supporter of Rock N' Brows and a loyal client and friend. If you are in need of personal styling and would like to check out Andrea Livolsi's website and some of the beautiful people she has dressed please do: AndreaLivolsi.com "This business wouldn't be a business without our clients."- Sarah Agajanian |
